Seoul Lantern Festival

I have been seeing different friends post pictures of the Seoul Lantern Festival.  I was really wanting to go see it.  The girls didn't have piano on Wednesday so we headed over to cheonggye plaza to see the lights.  These displays are made from handmade light paper (hanji).  They use this for their lamps.  It was so beautiful my pictures don't do it justice.

It was a lot of walking for little feet. However, we all reall enjoyed it!!

Happy Birthday Makayla!!!

Makayla started celebrating her birthday on Saturday.  She enjoyed most of the day face timing friends from TX.  Then Ryan and I took her shopping in Meyong Dong.  Makayla was wanting Korean so we found a fun restaurant.  She takes a TON of selfies so I find it odd that she didn't like me taking a ton of pictures:)

After we got our tummies full we headed over to Forever 21.  Ryan was patient while we shopped forever!!  She found some fun things though:)

When we got home the kids had decorated the house with a sign and balloons.  The little kids kept telling Makayla "Its your Birthday tomorrow".  I think Kensley was more excited than Makayla :)

We love our Makayla!!!

Seoul National Science Musuem

This was our 2nd time at the science museum.  The kids love this place!  It is a fun place with so much to do.  They always have fun projects too:)

The older girls made soap.

They made balancing figures.

They made balloon cars.

Ben thought these were the coolest!!

Bukchon Hanok Village

When Aunt Nancy was here, she really enjoyed walking around this village.  So for our outing today, we walked around Bukchon Hanok Village.

Some of the workshops weren't open.  The boys were looking forward to making a traditional kite.  I guess we will have to go back another day.
The girls made bracelets.  Thomas was so good to help Kensley!

I love the old oriental style of the homes.  I'm glad they try to preserve this little village.  Some of the homes are open to the public.  The older girls refused to go in...it's just awkward;)

I wish I would have taken a picture of the woodworking workshop.  It made me think of Keith and dad.  They had some fun designs/projects.
After we were done walking we needed a treat from our favorite store...

Rubber Ducky

A huge 54 foot rubber duck is floating in the Seokchon lake.  It was created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman.
I decided to take the little kids to see it on the elementary kids day off.  We had a fun subway ride there.  As we were trying to find our exit, Ben saw a red light glowing.  He was so excited to see a Krispy Kreme we had to detour:). Ben LOVES doughnuts!!

Now we were ready to go find this rubber duck people were talking about.

This guy kept distracting my kiddos from looking at me...I should have got behind him to take the picture.

We took a break to skype daddy and rest before we headed home.  I sure love this sweet Sydney!!  She is always good to thank me when we go do fun things.  She is just sweet and thoughtful:).
That building behind us is the new Lotte World Mall, consists of 123 stories.  We might have to do a little shopping there when it is complete;)

Halloween

We did something a little different this year.  Koreans don't celebrate Halloween and I didn't feel like joining the madness on post.  I didn't make any costumes this year either.   I was kind of a lame mom on this holiday.  We did do a little Halloween party...
(Thanks to grandma Brenda for Kensley and Ben's costumes.  And Grandma Charla for Sydney's dr. stuff.)

We played a little Halloween bingo.  Ben enjoyed being the caller.
Ben and Kensley helped me make a piƱata for the party.

Kensley loved this game.  She had a hard time because she kept laughing.

The kids thought it was fun to wrap up mom and dad like mummies.  I think my team won;)

I think everyone had a Happy Halloween.

Red Ribbon Week

My kids LOVE this week!  They always want to participate.  At the middle school they gave out prizes.  Karley learned this a little late...But she did end up winning 1st place on school spirit day(the last day:)).
She had a small banner in her hair that said SAMS pride.  She painted her nails.  She pinned SAMS to her jeans.  Then she used a little face paint.  She won a $25 gift card to the PX.

Shelby won 2nd place on crazy sock/hair day.  She got a $15 gift card.
